Speeding is it sin

Paul is very clear when he tells us, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves” (Romans 13:1-2 NIV). In spite of how we might try to twist the Scriptures, as Christians we have a God-directed responsibility to obey the laws that our government has established (unless the laws contradict God's Word). We also need to ask ourselves what kind of example we are to the people who know we are Christians and who we are trying to reach with the gospel of Christ. How many times have we seen someone speeding by us, only to notice the fish or some other Christian symbol on their bumper? This definitely sends the wrong message.  It’s interesting how some try to justify their actions even though we know they’...

Is it difficult to Tame our tongue

The concept of taming the tongue is found in James 3 where God declares, through the Apostle James, that “no one can tame the tongue” (James 3:8). This lengthy discussion about the tongue is both convicting and illuminating. Among the things this chapter reveals about the tongue: it is a small part of the body but it makes great boasts (v. 5); it is a fire and a world of evil that defiles the whole person (v. 6); it is set on fire by hell (v. 6); it is an unrestrain-able evil and full of deadly poison (v. 7). Is it any wonder, then, that God declares that taming the tongue is impossible? When Adam sinned God imputed that sin to mankind, so whether or not we want to believe it, every human being is born with a wicked heart and an evil sin nature (Romans 3:10-18). Lurking within each of us are varying degrees of hatred, bitterness, jealousy and pride, and the tongue takes hold of these and other destructive tendencies and strikes out, often with a push from Satan. We see this every...

Bible say about flirting

The Bible does not specifically talk to us about whether or not flirting is wrong, so what we should do is examine the definition of flirting. According to Merriam-Webster, flirting is "a) to behave amorously without serious intent, or b) to show superficial or casual interest or liking." It is synonymous with the word trifle, which is something of little value. The next thing we should examine is what people are usually trying to accomplish when they flirt. Are they trying to get attention from others, whether it is negative or positive? Are they attempting to show sexual interest or attraction? Do they see it as “innocent fun,” even if they or the other person is involved with someone else, even married? Having casual contact with someone while purposely entertaining sexual undertones can be dangerous for us spiritually. Although most people believe that as long as nothing physical takes place, what goes on in our minds is irrelevant, the Bible tells us otherwise. “But I ...

Having Pictures of Jesus Is it Wrong

When trying to decide what, if any, Christian imagery is appropriate to place in our homes, a good place to begin is the Ten Commandments. When God first gave His law to mankind, He began with Himself, a statement of who He is: “the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt” (Exodus 20:2), and a warning that we are to have no other God but Him. He immediately followed that by forbidding the making of any image of anything “in heaven above or on earth beneath or in the waters below” (Exodus 20:4), for the purpose of worshiping or bowing down to it. The fascinating thing about the history of the Jewish people is that they disobeyed this commandment more than any other. Again and again, they made idols to represent God and worshipped them, beginning with the creation of the golden calf at the very moment God was writing the Ten Commandments on tablets for Moses (Exodus 32)! Idol worship not only drew the Israelite s away from the true and living God, it led to all man...

True religion

True religion is neither rules-based nor ritual-based. True religion is a relationship with God. Two things that all religions hold are that humanity is somehow separated from God and needs to be reconciled to Him. False religion seeks to solve this problem by observing rules and rituals. True religion solves the problem by recognizing that only God could rectify the separation, and that He has done so. True religion recognizes the following: We have all sinned and are therefore separated from God (Romans 3:23). If not rectified, the just penalty for sin is death and eternal separation from God after death (Romans 6:23). God came to us in the Person of Jesus Christ and died in our place, taking the punishment that we deserve, and rose from the dead to demonstrate that His death was a sufficient sacrifice (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21). If we receive Jesus as the Savior, trusting His death as the full payment for our sins, we are forgiven, saved, redeemed,...

key to witnessing Hindus

The problem with witnessing to the Hindu is that he sees himself as a believer. While trying to witness to a Hindu, we must remember that we are involved in spiritual warfare which can only be won by sincere and focused prayers. So that is the place to begin. Pray regularly for the one to whom we are trying to present Christ. Because his beliefs about God and man are diametrically opposed to what we are trying to present from the Bible, our words often convey a totally different concept to his mind and therefore one has to be extra careful that we are communicating to him properly. To a Hindu the word "God" does NOT communicate much because to him everything, visible and invisible, is god or manifestations of god. To him god is an unknowable and unknown force and not a person. We might say that the Hindu calls nature god. So to begin by telling a Hindu that God loves him does not make much sense as he himself is a part of god! Another thing to remember, as we try to reach Hi...

Adam and Eve have how many children When were Adam and Eve created

The Bible does not give us a specific number. Adam and Eve had Cain (Genesis 4:1), Abel (Genesis 4:2), Seth (Genesis 4:25), and many other sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4). With likely hundreds of years of child-bearing capability, Adam and Eve likely had 50+ children in their lifetime. When were Adam and Eve created If Old Testament history and the ages in Genesis chapter 5 are traced, Adam and Eve were likely created in approximately 4000 B.C. Were Adam and Eve cavemen? Genesis chapter 3 records Adam and Eve having a fully intelligent conversation with God. Adam and Eve were surely "primitive" in their understanding of many concepts, but they were not "ape-like" or intellectually deficient by any means. Adam and Eve were the most perfect human beings in the history of the world. How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden before they sinned? The Bible does not explicitly tell us how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden before they sinned. It s...

About abortion what Bible says

The Bible never specifically addresses the issue of abortion. However, there are numerous teachings in Scripture that make it abundantly clear what God’s view of abortion is. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that God knows us before He forms us in the womb. Psalm 139:13-16 speaks of God’s active role in our creation and formation in the womb. Exodus 21:22-25 prescribes the same penalty—death—for someone who causes the death of a baby in the womb as for someone who commits murder. This clearly indicates that God considers a baby in the womb to be as human as a full-grown adult. For the Christian, abortion is not a matter of a woman’s right to choose. It is a matter of the life or death of a human being made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26-27; 9:6). The first argument that always arises against the Christian stance on abortion is “What about cases of rape and/or incest?” As horrible as it would be to become pregnant as a result of rape and/or incest, is the murder of a baby the answer? Two wrongs do ...

Sexual purity so important why

God gave man and woman the joy and pleasure of sexual relations within the bounds of marriage, and the Bible is clear about the importance of maintaining sexual purity within the boundaries of that union between man and wife (Ephesians 5:31). Humans are well aware of the pleasing effect of this gift from God but have expanded it well beyond marriage and into virtually any circumstance. The secular world’s philosophy of “if it feels good, do it” pervades cultures, especially in the West, to the point where sexual purity is seen as archaic and unnecessary. Yet look at what God says about sexual purity. “You should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God.” “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, 7). This passage outlines God’s reasons for calling for sexual purity in the live...

The Pathway to Moksha मॊक्ष-द्वार

MOKSH DWAR मॊक्ष-द्वार  The five Pandava brothers had just finished the Holy Mahabharat war. They had even completed the sacrifice that pertains to victorious kings, symbolizing the glory of the kings that of the rising sun. Now all that was left to be done was to attain the ultimate bliss before completing their earthly pilgrimage, and in pursuance of that goal of attaining true salvation, they arrived at the pilgrim centre of Haridawar.  In order to attain Moksha (salvation) at any cost, and thus satisfy the one and only deepest longing of the human soul they came to the banks of the great ganga and there washed themselves in the holy bath ritually at Har Ki paudi of Brahma Kund, and then proceeded to climb the glorious valleys of Himalayan mountains to achieve the fulfilment and satiate their quest for salvation.  Whether the ritual bathing at Brahma Kund in the Ganga waters, had brought them on to the purest ad the Holy path of attaining moksha (salvation), remained...

The purpose of marriage

Is it necessary for a Christian to marry? What is the purpose of marriage? The Bible has a lot to say about this topic. Since the first marriage was between the first man and the first woman, it is assumed that marriage is God’s will for most people. It was instituted “in the time of man’s innocence” and is therefore a holy institution. The first reason that the Bible gives for the existence of marriage is simple: Adam was lonely and needed a helper (Genesis 2:18). This is the primary purpose of marriage—fellowship, companionship, and mutual help and comfort. One purpose of marriage is to create a stable home in which children can grow and thrive. The best marriage is between two believers (2 Corinthians 6:14) who can produce godly offspring (Malachi 2:13-15). In Malachi, God tells the Israelite s that He will not accept their offerings because they have been unfaithful to the wives of their youth. This shows how much God cares about marriage being kept intact. Not only that, but He ...

Emotional affairs can avoided in married Christians

An emotional affair occurs when a married person shares emotional intimacy and support with an individual other than his/her spouse. Marital partners should share problems, feelings, and needs with one other and determine the boundaries of what can be shared and to whom. Depending on others to meet our emotional needs can become a temptation, especially when spouses spend much time apart while spending large blocks of time with others. Co-workers and those in close proximity on a daily basis can become a substitute for emotional support. Work relations and friendships need to have proper boundaries to ensure they do not become inappropriate. There are warning signs that a platonic friendship could be leading to an emotional affair. When we start to feel a need to hide aspects of a relationship, we are crossing a line into inappropriate territory. Emotional distance between spouses or an increase in arguments may indicate one spouse is turning to another person for closeness. Intimacy...

Powerful temptation towards idol worship why

Ultimately, the answer to this question is “sin.” It is the sin nature of man which causes us to worship modern idols, all of which are, in reality, forms of self-worship. The temptation to worship ourselves in various ways is a powerful temptation indeed. In fact, it is so powerful that only those who belong to Christ and have the Holy Spirit within them can possibly hope to resist the temptation of modern idolatry. Even then, resisting the worship of idols is a lifelong battle which is part of the Christian life (Ephesians 6:11; 1 Timothy 6:12; 2 Timothy 2:3). When we hear the word “idol” we often think of statues and objects reminiscent of those worshiped by pagans in ancient cultures. However, the idols of the 21st century often bear no resemblance to the artifacts used thousands of years ago. Today, we have replaced the “golden calf” with an insatiable drive to reach the top of the corporate ladder or with a myriad of other passionate pursuits. And, sadly, those who aggressively p...

Overcomming temptation

The Scriptures tell us that we all face temptations. First Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man.” Perhaps this provides a little encouragement as we often feel that the world is caving in on us alone, and that others are immune to temptations. We are told that Christ was also tempted: “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Where, then, do these temptations come from? First of all, they do not come from God, although He does allow them. James 1:13 says, “For God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.” In the first chapter of Job, we see that God allowed Satan to tempt Job, but with restrictions. Satan is roaming around on the earth like a lion, seeking people to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Verse 9 tells us to resist him, knowing that other Christians are also experiencing his attacks. By these ...

What does the Bible say about suicide Christian view of suicide

The Bible mentions six specific people who committed suicide: Abimelech (Judges 9:54), Saul (1 Samuel 31:4), Saul's armor-bearer (1 Samuel 31:4-6), Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:23), Zimri (1 Kings 16:18), and Judas (Matthew 27:5). Five of them were wicked, sinful men (not enough is said regarding Saul's armor-bearer to make a judgment as to his character). Some consider Samson an instance of suicide (Judges 16:26-31), but Samson's goal was to kill the Philistines, not himself. The Bible views suicide as equal to murder, which is what it is—self-murder. God is the only one who is to decide when and how a person should die. According to the Bible, suicide is not what determines whether a person gains entrance into heaven. If an unsaved person commits suicide, he has done nothing but “expedite” his journey to hell. However, that person who committed suicide will ultimately be in hell for rejecting salvation through Christ, not because he committed suicide. What does the Bible say...

Can Five Pillars of Islam get me to heaven by keeping it

Because God is just, He will punish sin – regardless of how well you keep the Five Pillars. As a Muslim, you long to reach paradise after you die. But as a sinner, how will you escape God’s judgment? You may think, “My faithfulness in keeping the Five Pillars may outweigh my sins. Hopefully, God will admit me to paradise.” You strive to keep the Five Pillars of Islam. Five times a day you kneel toward Mecca. The creed (shahadah) often forms on your lips. You bring no bread or water to your mouth during the daylight of Ramadan. You are saving up money for the pilgrimage to Mecca and are freely giving alms to the poor. But still you question, “Is keeping the Five Pillars enough?” Your conscience convicts you of failing God’s standard of holiness. How could the holy God accept to paradise someone stained with even a little sin? Only one sin caused the first man’s downfall. Adam’s sin was not a “big sin” like adultery, murder, or blasphemy. By eating the forbidden fruit, Adam’s o...

The blessing of Surrender

Quit quarreling with God! Agree with him and you will have peace at  last! His favor will surround you if you will only admit that you were  wrong. Job 22:21 (LB)  The Bible is very clear about how we benefit when we worship God  through surrender: "Agree with him and you will have peace at last!  His favor will surround you if you will only admit that you were  wrong" (Job 22:21 LB).  In surrender, you begin to really live the life God intended: "Only  those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the  Good News will ever know what it means to really live" (Mark 8:35  LB).  You are set free, liberated from self-preoccupation: "But offer  yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your  lives you've let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you've started  listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live  openly in his freedom!" (Ro...

"How good and pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!"

(Psa 133:1)   The enemies within us weaken us more than the enemies outside. Jesus said that a kingdom or a city or a house that's divided against itself would not stand (Mt 12:25). Will then a Church that's divided against itself stand? Of all the problems in the Church the worst one is disunity. We will study ten simple steps to practical unity, today and the next four days. Begin with the leaders. Psalm 133 is a much beloved one. There are several songs and choruses composed with its content. It is invariably quoted whenever unity is talked about. The Psalm begins with an exclamation: "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!" (v1). "Brothers" here can be understood to mean the children of God. The nature of such brilliant unity is graphically illustrated in the remaining two verses of the Psalm. The Psalmist gives two pictures: Oil that "runs down" and dew that "descends." The flow of oil starts...

Should I follow Jesus my family will disown me, and I will be persecuted.

Becoming a follower of Jesus by faith (John 10:26-30). Crowds flocked to Jesus, but most were not His true followers. They just wanted to experience healing of their diseases, see Jesus cast out demons, and eat their fill of the bread He miraculously provided. Jesus warned them of the cost of following Him. “Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels’” (Mark 8:34-38). Would you follow your own fleshly desires, or would you deny yourself and follow Jesus? Do you v...

Who was Jesus' father and about the Birth of Jesus Christ

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.’ “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: ‘Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel’ which means, God with us” (Matthew 1:18-23). Christmas celebrates the unique birth of Jesus, Who came as Immanuel, meaning “God with us.” The next five days, discover how the true story of Immanuel’s birth may save ...

Where was Jesus born

More than 500 years before Jesus’ birth, prophets foretold His birthplace: “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days” (Micah 5:2). Rather than sending the Savior to a renowned city, God promised to send the Messiah to the small, agricultural village of Bethlehem. Joseph and Mary, however, lived in Nazareth. This next Scripture passage shows how the prophecy was fulfilled: “In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. “And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And w...
